Tapa Cloth Inspired Coasters

Create your own set of painted coasters inspired by traditional Tapa cloth designs. In this fun and creative workshop, participants will use block painting techniques to decorate a set of 4 coasters with bold, Polynesian-inspired patterns. Class is led by Artist Mary Ann Crago. No experience needed - just bring your creativity. Cost is $30 and all supplies are included.

Instructor: Susan Thogmartin

Create a convenient thread catcher to sit by you as you sew. Participants will need 2 fat quarters and a 2.5” strip for binding. All other supplies will be included. Cost is $40. If you need a machine the cost will be $50. Select local pick-up to avoid shipping charge.

Signs of the Season BOM

Gather your holiday fabrics (new or from your stash) and make “Signs of the Season” quilt with Donna Paul. This scrappy Christmas quilt will take 6 months to complete starting May through October - plenty of time to have it ready before Christmas.

Learn some new techniques such a paper piecing, a sashing short cut, and lots of other tips big and small from Donna and other participants. 

Class will begin on May 13th at 1:00 p.m. but the participants will discuss the schedule for future months.

Quilt Block Painting

Create a 6x6 wood panel to hang using a cradle panel and acrylic paint for indoor use. All skill levels welcome. Supplies included in the cost of the class.

April 26, 1:00 p.m. Expect 2 to 3 hours to allow for the paint to dry.

Beginning Crochet

Bonnie will lead individuals in learning basic stitches of crochet. The class will focus on learning stitches so no specific project will be made.

Create a Spring Flowers Wall Hanging while working on your appliqué. Project should be completed or near completion at the end of the second class. 

Class sessions April 7 and 14 daytime hours TBA

Class cost $99 for two sessions and the pattern ($20 value that includes 11 other patterns), supplies except fabric, and instruction. Class will discuss future sessions for other patterns at a lower cost since participants will have the pattern already.

In this class, you'll explore the basics of cut paper collage and create your own original piece using a curated collection of materials and glue. Choose from two exciting projects: design a unique collage for a blank journal cover, or craft art fodder folios (perfect for storing future art materials and projects). All materials provided. All skill levels welcome! If you have papers you’d like to include in your collage, please bring them to class.

Continue your creative journey with upcoming classes in this series. The next class, The Art of Gel Printing, will be held on April 12th.

Mary Ann is a mixed media artist from Columbus, Ohio. She loves the act of creating and unearthing new discoveries in art. Her art centers around her relationship with the natural world by depicting birds, plants, and trees by using a variety of mediums (acrylic, watercolor, pencil, hard pastel, paper collage, monoprinting, and stitching).

#YBS Spring Break Beginning Sewing

Designed for those on spring break, this class will cover basic information about changing a needle, choosing thread, and many other topics to that will advance sewing skills.

Participants will need 1 yard of fabric that will be made into a pillowcase. Participants will need to bring a sewing machine, thread, and scissors. Sewing machines can be reserved for an additional fee.

#BP Spring Break Beginning Piecing

Designed for those on spring break, this class reviews the basic knowledge and skills for starting your quilt journey. Four blocks will be completed during the two classes.

Participants will need to bring a sewing machine (or use a shop machine for a small fee), thread, a rotary cutter, a quilt ruler (if owned), scissors, thread, and a seam ripper.

Learn the basics of quilting in this class including adding borders, sandwiching your project, pin basting, outline quilting, and stitching in the ditch. Bring your own project -  the blocks from the beginning piecing class, a panel, or other small design.

Intended for individuals who have completed the beginning piecing class or have a small pieced project ready to quilt.

Getting started can be daunting. Donna will help you feel more confident in using your machine and making your first projects. She will cover threading and types of thread, tension settings, needles and replacing them, seam allowances, basic features in your machine, etc. During the class you will create a pillow case.

Bring your machine, fabric for a pillow case, and basic sewing supplies (thread, scissors, etc). 

If you are unable to bring your machine, select the option “with shop machine” for the date of the class.
