#BQUILT2D Beginning Quilting

Start your beginning quilting journey with Donna Paul. This 7-week class provides foundational skills in citting, piecing, trimming, sashing, and more. Participants will have a completed quilt top at the end of the series.

Materials needed: 12 fat quarters, quilt ruler, thread, sean ripper, small cutting mat, scissors, and machine (unless renting one).

This class will be offered on two different dates -

Mondays starting January 19 at 5:30 or
Tuesday starting January 20 at 1:00

Sew a Layer Cake

This quilt is made created completely from a layer cake. Donna will show cutting and piecing techniques that will allow you to create this quilt top with ease. The top measures 58” x 64” and can be made larger with the addition of a border or two. 

Class cost is $35 for instruction and pattern. Participants will need to bring or purchase at the shop a layer cake. Other basic sewing supplies including sewing machine, rotary cutter, small mat, thread, seam ripper, scissors, etc. are needed. Participants may also borrow a machine at an additional cost.

Beginning Sewing - The Basics

January 13 at 1:00 p.m. or January 17 at 1:00 p.m.

Getting started can be daunting. Donna will help you feel more confident in using your machine and making your first projects. She will cover threading and types of thread, tension settings, needles and replacing them, seam allowances, basic features in your machine, etc. During the class you will create a pillow case.

Bring your machine, fabric for a pillow case, and basic sewing supplies (thread, scissors, etc). 

If you are unable to bring your machine, select the option “with shop machine” for the date of the class.
